A Bit About LaQuan
LaQuan specializes in working with teens and adults who feel "stuck" in unhelpful patterns and are seeking skills and strategies to better express emotions, build confidence, and strengthen relationships. He helps clients navigate anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem by exploring how thoughts, behaviors, and feelings are connected and by setting and working towards meaningful, achievable goals.
Calm, open, and down-to-earth, LaQuan takes a collaborative approach that helps clients to translate insight and awareness into action. Using CBT (cognitive behavior therapy), IFS (internal family systems/parts-work), MI (motivational interviewing), and SFBT (solutions-focused brief therapy), he tailors each session to the individual needs of his clients, offering both depth and practical skill-building.
LaQuan enjoys working with clients who have a desire for deeper self-understanding and authenticity and helps people who are navigating major life transitions like career changes, loss, moving, and identity development.
LaQuan completed a Bachelor's of Psychology with a minor in Sociology from UNC Pembroke where he subsequently completed his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He is currently a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA). When he is not working, you can find LaQuan listening to music, playing video games, going to the beach, and spending time with his family, including his adorable Siberian Husky puppy. For LaQuan, just as in his approach to sessions, he firmly believes in seeking out a life of balance, honoring all parts of himself.
