A Bit About Kat
Kat graduated from New York University’s Gallatin School with a Bachelor of Arts in Individualized Study. While there, she developed her own Major — weaving together courses in psychology, philosophy, world religions, and alternative/ complimentary mental health approaches. This kicked off a life-long pursuit of understanding how humans change, what we can do to help the process, and what might keep us stuck.

After living the artist and activist life in New York City post grad, she moved to Philadelphia to attend Drexel University. It was here she obtained her Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy, and deepened her awareness of how familial, cultural, and societal influences impact us all as individuals. Her theory of change expanded to center the overwhelming importance of our relationships — so often the source of both our deepest wounds and most profound healing.

Upon moving to North Carolina, Kat took some time away from the field as she pursued the initial stages of licensure. In 2021 she accepted a job at Coastal Horizons in the Community Based Family Services Department, and became a Family Centered Treatment (FCT) Clinician. FCT is an evidence-based, short-term, intensive model, specifically tailored to treat families with high-needs kids & adolescents. Utilizing this model, Kat was able to consistently support families in enacting real, sustainable change -- even in the face of complex, intergenerational trauma. After 2.5 years in the field, she accepted a leadership position as an FCT Trainer, and moved into a practitioner support role.

Kat is excited to be taking on limited, private practice clients at Honeybee. Kat works to develop a collaborative partnership with all her clients, and to build a therapeutic relationship based on both mutual respect, and direct & honest feedback. She aims to provide care that is deeply empathetic towards the difficulty of change, while also maintaining that growth is possible with the right approach. You can expect to be both emotionally supported & challenged throughout your time with her.

Kat is open to working with individuals, couples(+), and families, and has specific expertise in helping those struggling with: managing big emotions, feelings of disconnection, feeling stuck in that ‘same old cycle of conflict’, ADHD burnout/overwhelm, and complex trauma. Kat is deeply affirming towards those in the LGBTQIA2S+ communities, and particularly enjoys working with people with alternative lifestyles, relationship styles, and careers.
Please reach out if you think working with Kat sounds like a good fit!
